The Retirement KITAS is a temporary residence permit for applicants aged 55 and older who want to live in Bali or elsewhere in Indonesia. It is valid for one year, allows multiple entries, and can be extended every year so you can settle into long-term retirement abroad.
Requirements and Process
To qualify, you must be at least 55 years old. The Retirement KITAS is issued for one year at a time and is a multiple-entry permit, meaning you can leave Indonesia and return as many times as you need during its validity. When your permit nears expiry, you can extend it annually to continue your stay.
Document Requirements
To apply for a Retirement KITAS, you will need to provide:
- Scanned copy of your passport information page and cover
- Bank statement covering the last 3 months with a minimum balance of USD 2,000
- Pension deposit of at least USD 3,000 per month
- Valid health insurance
- A long-term address in Bali (changing your registered address while the KITAS is active costs IDR 1–1.5 million)

- First application: IDR 17,000,000 — valid for 1 year
- Annual extension: IDR 15,000,000 per year
Cancellation and Exit Permits
If you decide to cancel or close your Retirement KITAS, you must complete a KITAS cancellation and obtain an exit permit. The type of permit depends on whether you are in Indonesia or overseas at the time:
- EPO (Exit Permit Only): For when you are in Indonesia — IDR 1,000,000, processed in approximately 7 working days
- ETK (Exit Re-entry Permit): For when you are overseas — IDR 1,500,000, processed in approximately 7 working days
